Help lead the operation that keeps the Island moving Red Funnel is seeking exceptional operational leaders to join the Port Operations leadership team as a Duty Ports Manager. This is a critical frontline leadership role responsible for the safe, legal and efficient operation of our ports. Acting as the operational command point during your shift, you'll coordinate activity between vessels, terminal teams and central functions, ensuring services remain safe, reliable and customer focused. As one of six Duty Ports Managers, you'll lead all terminal operations across our Southampton and Isle of Wight sites, manage operational performance in real time and take command during incidents, disruptions and emergency situations. What you'll be doing Leading day-to-day port operations across passenger, vehicle and freight services. Acting as the operational lead during incidents, disruptions and emergencies. Managing vessel readiness, operational capacity and resource deployment. Leading port operational teams to deliver safe, efficient service. Monitoring operational performance and driving continuous improvement. Managing incidents, investigations and corrective actions. Building strong relationships with vessel crews, internal departments and external stakeholders. What we're looking for You'll be an experienced operational leader who thrives under pressure and enjoys making critical decisions in a fast-moving environment. We're particularly interested in candidates with: Operational management experience within marine, transport or logistics environments. Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills. Proven experience delivering operational targets and KPIs. Excellent crisis management and decision-making capability. Strong understanding of safety, compliance and operational governance. The Role We are looking for a qualified and experienced Management Accountant to join our Finance team. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of the monthly management accounts process while leading and developing the Accounts Payable team and an Assistant Management Accountant. Reporting to the Head of Financial Control, you'll play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining robust financial controls, and providing insight that supports effective decision-making across the business. You'll work closely with operational leaders, budget holders and our FP&A team to understand performance, challenge assumptions and ensure financial information reflects business activity. This is an ideal opportunity for a technically strong accountant who enjoys combining hands-on accounting expertise with leadership and business partnering responsibilities. What You'll Be Doing Managing the month-end close process, including journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations. Reviewing and approving accounting entries prepared by the wider finance team. Ensuring balance sheet integrity through timely and accurate reconciliations. Providing insightful variance analysis and commentary to support business performance. Supporting budgeting and forecasting activities in partnership with the FP&A team. Overseeing payroll accounting, reconciliations and related controls. Leading the production of monthly management accounts and reporting packs. Building effective relationships with managers and budget holders across the business. Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and control. Coaching and developing a small finance team to deliver high-quality financial services.   What We're Looking For You'll be an organised and commercially minded finance professional with strong technical accounting skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. Essential requirements:  Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or qualified by significant experience. Experience producing monthly management accounts within a complex organisation. Strong understanding of accruals, prepayments, reconciliations and financial controls. Experience managing and developing finance team members. Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems. Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills. Reporting to the Head of FP&A, you'll play a key role in forecasting, commercial performance analysis, cashflow planning and strategic modelling. You'll work across Finance, Commercial and Operational teams to provide data-driven insights that influence decision-making at both operational and leadership levels. What You'll Be Doing Analysing passenger volumes, revenue, yield, pricing and route profitability trends. Supporting budgeting, forecasting and long-term financial planning processes. Producing scenario models and sensitivity analysis to evaluate business risks and opportunities. Delivering insightful reporting for senior leaders and Board-level decision-making. Owning and developing our rolling cashflow forecasting model and liquidity reporting. Supporting the continuous development of financial reporting, modelling and analytical capability.   What We're Looking For You'll be naturally analytical, commercially curious and comfortable working with large data sets to solve problems and influence decisions. Ideally, you'll have: A professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or be working towards one. Experience in Financial Planning & Analysis, Commercial Finance or a similar analytical role. Strong financial modelling and advanced Excel skills. Experience producing meaningful management information and performance reporting. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. The confidence to communicate financial information clearly to a range of stakeholders. A proactive and collaborative approach, with a desire to continually improve processes and reporting.   Experience with cashflow forecasting, Power BI and customer facing retail industry experience would be advantageous but is not essential. Reporting to the Operations Director, you'll provide strategic leadership across safety, compliance, sustainability and risk, ensuring we continue to deliver safe, sustainable and reliable services while supporting our long-term business objectives. The Role As our Head of Safety, Sustainability & Compliance, you'll be responsible for embedding a positive safety culture throughout the organisation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and driving continuous improvement across our Integrated Management System (IMS). You'll work closely with leaders across the business to identify emerging risks, influence decision-making and implement effective controls that protect our people, customers, assets, environment and reputation. You'll also act as Red Funnel's primary Designated Person (DP), providing independent oversight of our Safety Management System and serving as a critical link between ship and shore operations. What You'll Be Doing Providing strategic leadership for safety, sustainability, compliance, risk and environmental management across Red Funnel. Championing a proactive safety culture and strengthening our commitment to a Just Culture approach. Leading the ongoing development and effectiveness of our Integrated Management System (IMS), including compliance with ISM and ISO standards. Building strong relationships with regulators, including the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) and classification societies. Overseeing audits, inspections, compliance activities and corrective action programmes. Leading accident, incident and near-miss investigations, ensuring lessons learned are shared and embedded. Supporting business continuity planning and leading emergency exercises across the organisation. Driving delivery of our ESG strategy, Changing Tides, helping colleagues across the business contribute to our sustainability ambitions. Reporting on safety, compliance and sustainability performance to senior leadership and the Board. Ensuring organisational compliance with health, safety, environmental and relevant maritime regulations. What We're Looking For We're seeking a visible and credible leader who can engage colleagues at all levels, challenge where necessary and inspire positive change. You'll bring: Significant experience in a senior safety, compliance or risk leadership role. A proven track record of improving safety culture and driving organisational performance. Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, compliance frameworks and assurance processes. Experience within a regulated operational environment, ideally maritime, transport, logistics, infrastructure or similar. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. The ability to influence decision-making at Executive and Board level. Strong analytical, investigation and problem-solving capability. Experience of leading teams and developing talent. Qualifications Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in Health & Safety, Risk, Sustainability or a related discipline. NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 6 Health & Safety qualification. Qualified ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Auditor. Company Security Officer (CSO) certification or equivalent ISPS knowledge.   Desirable: Chartered IOSH Membership (CMIOSH), or working towards chartered status.
