Chief Engineer

We currently have the exciting opportunity available of Chief Engineer on a fixed-term basis. This position is very hands on and entails working as an integral part of our fleet maintenance team. You’ll be responsible for the operation and maintenance of main propulsion systems, auxiliary machinery, hydraulic, and sewage systems on our Ro-Ro Vessels. You will need a minimum of an STCW95 III/1 Engineer Officer in Charge of a Watch certificate of competency, with recent seagoing experience; you should have a good working knowledge of the maintenance requirements of medium speed diesels and their associated electro-hydraulic systems. You must also be able diagnose and rectify faults in a wide range of machinery and control systems.

Hours are based on 41 per week working a rostered shift system covering a 22-hour operation over 7 days per week. Accommodation isn’t available on-board and so it is key that you reside a commutable distance from our Southampton terminals. 

 

Other responsibilities include: - 

  • The maintenance of galley and passenger services equipment. 
  • Fabric maintenance of machinery spaces. 
  • Receipt of fuel oil and lubricating oil bunkers. 
  • Assisting the deck crew with the operation of the hydraulic equipment associated with loading practices
