We are looking for a Senior Chief Engineer Officer to join Red Funnel, on a Permanent contract working 42 hours a week. 

In this role, you will spend the majority of your time onboard, overseeing the day-to-day running, maintenance and safety of the vessel, while also driving key projects such as refits, mobilisations, and technical investigations.

You will work closely with the Technical Superintendent and Masters to ensure the vessel remains audit-ready, operates safely, and meets high standards of service performance. A key part of the role involves developing your team through strong leadership, clear communication, and regular performance reviews, ensuring everyone is aligned with company policies, operational procedures and our Guest Journey strategy. This position requires someone who can balance operational demands with strategic oversight—leading monthly crew meetings, contributing to quarterly reviews, supporting fuel-efficient service punctuality, and translating team knowledge into actionable improvements.

Knowledge/Experience Required:

 * Extensive Marine experience of medium speed diesel engines.

 * Strong Leadership ability 

 * Effective team player

• Strong communication skills understanding which channels to use and when; Microsoft Outlook email, Teams, Telephone as required. 

 * Good planning and organisational skills

Qualifications Required:

 * Chief Engineer CoC (Class One Unlimited)

 * All relevant STCWs maintained and in date 

 * A valid ENG 1 Medical Certificate
